My 2024-2025 College Football Preview

College football is here! This is the most excited I’ve been for college ball in long time (probably because of the grotesque amount of NCAA 25 I have been playing), and 12 team playoff really shakes the entire fabric of the game. Here are my predictions for what college football will be this season:

THE SEC: TEXAS TAKES OVER THE TRAP

Texas and Oklahoma are finally in the SEC, and I think they’re starting at the perfect time for them to be competitive. Oklahoma has a lot of room to grow, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they rattled off a couple statement wins. However, they aren’t “Championship Material”. Texas, on the other hand, is a National Championship team. Quinn Ewers is, to me at least, the best quarterback in college football. Now of course, Georgia and Alabama, maybe even Tennessee, can run the table and find themselves champions of the SEC, that’s expected. Texas, however, has played competitive football the last two seasons, they have seen these teams before, with much less turnover from Brock Bowers and Nick Saban. More importantly, they had solid play retention, and have found themselves in the perfect spot to win the SEC.

BIG TEN: CAN OHIO STATE GET OVER THE HUMP? (no)

The Big 10 is a completely new conference, filled with some of the best teams college ball has to offer. Ohio State, for some reason, is the talk of the town for winning this reinvented conference. What about Michigan? Yea, they lost A LOT and worst of all, no Connor Stallions. It doesn’t matter, because just like the SEC, there’s a new kid in the block. Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans have make some great changes, primarily on the defensive side of the ball, that I believe will lounge them out of the state of mediocrity they’ve been sitting in for quite some time. Miller Moss is an underrated Heisman candidate, the offense knows how to put up points, and I think this will be the best football USC has played in long time. USC is winning the Big 10 with stride.

THE BIG XII: UTAH REIGNS SUPREME

Cam Rising is the man, there’s no doubt about that. He’s old, wise, a little banged up, but has that Gardner Minshew type spirit that makes you believe he really can throw a football over those mountains. I will admit, I’m not the most versed on this conference, but I like the consistency of Utah, especially at the QB position- to me that goes a long way. I think Kansas State can really do something as well, more than Kansas will for sure. Other than that, Ollie Gordon could carry OSU to a Big XII championship, but I like Utah this year.

THE ACC: MIAMI WINS THEIR FIRST ACC ‘SHIP

This is the year Miami can get over the hump, I can feel it! We all saw what Florida State had to offer, a mediocre defense with a below average offense. I’m not sure why fans were stoked to have DJ at quarterback, but obviously he’s a mid as mid gets. Mike Norvell can’t coach a good game, and the fan base is always finding a way to complain- you know it’s true! Miami has a rockstar Cam Ward leading the helm, a great experienced defense, and a head coach that is sitting on a flaming hot seat. I will be the first to say that Crystalbal is not the guy. He is just Mark Riche with better pro development, but he’s not a college football winner. However, I think we are going to see a more locked in Miami and I won’t be surprised when they will their first ACC title. Other than a possible FSU revenge season, the only team that truly poses a threat in the ACC is Louisville… and that’s not happening.

MY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP: TEXAS VS USC

I wish it could be Miami this year, but to me the ACC and Big XII will struggle with the superiority of the SEC and Big Ten.

My 12 playoff teams right now include: Texas, USC, Utah, Miami, Liberty, Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee, Louisville, Alabama, Oregon, and Penn State.

Texas has an absolutely elite quarterback in Quinn Ewers and they will roll teams this year no doubt. USC seems to be back with a fresh new quarterback and a better looking defense. I don’t think it’ll be pretty, but I believe USC will find themselves in the big one against Texas. However, this is the year of Texas and that’s how it will end. Give me Texas 38-20 to be your new NATIONAL CHAMPS!
